Lightning protection risk assessments are an important element in ensuring the right level of protection is provided against the risk of a potential lightning strike. Failure to carry out a risk assessment can invalidate your insurance.
Lightning Strike were the preferred contractor to work on the structure of the HSE Offices, a building which houses commercial offices. After a detailed consultation, a full extensive lightning protection instalment was estimated at £19,000. As this was over budget we offered an alternative solution which didn’t skimp on the level of protection and cost a fraction of the price.
Council – Listed Grade 2 Building
This listed grade 2 building required a specialist with extensive knowledge and the skills to test and inspect their current lightning protection equipment. At Lightning Strike we was on hand to provide them with exactly what they needed to ensure that everything was up to the regulated and safe BS EN 62305 standards. After testing and inspecting the building the conclusion was that an update to their lightning protection was needed.
An oversight of installing lightning protection meant that this care home was in desperate need for the right protection solution that was quick to install. Not only was the right lightning protection essential for the structural security of the building but more importantly the safety of the residents within the care home.
Industrial sites always provide their own risk assessment. When we were approached by an industrial site which measured level 1 on a risk assessment due to dangerous materials we knew approaching this safely was paramount. When first inspected a full traditional lightning protection service would cost the site £170,000, with that being a little out of their pricing range we came up with an alternative solution.
